Palazzini Console Lamps
These console lamps are formed around original cast iron balcony supports. Selected for their exceptional natural look. They have been sun bleached and baked for over 100 years, and the texture and dreamy colours of the original paint now display the most amazing patina. The open ‘weave’ of the structure enables the aged mirror inserts to subtly reflect their surroundings, further enhancing the visual appeal. Mounted on hand finished steel bases with complementary paint and traces of gilding, a subtle lighting column rises on the rear face of each lamp. A rectangular lampshade is shown here to illustrate how to harmonise shade design with the lamp itself.

The Marly Lamp
A finely sculpted casting based on the famous Marly Horses, the originals of which were carved in 1745 from one massive block of Carrara marble for the gardens at Chateau Marly. The French Revolution saw the destruction of the chateau itself, but the beautiful sculptures were spared and brought to Paris in 1795, where they now sit in The Louvre.
Any militaristic references were ignored, as the sculptor wanted to show the primitive natural forces at play in the tension between the man and the horse with its wild eyes, flowing mane and splendid tail.
In this casting, the man’s left hand grasps a simple bronze baton, a stylish detail in an imposing piece.
Sympathetically restored to form this spectacular lamp the sculpture is a fine example of the Marly Horse. It has a superb natural patina and is mounted on a bleached and aged oak plinth.
The lampshade is for our display purposes only.
Height (from base to top of light fitting) 60cm (approx 24”), Width (of plinth) 46cm (approx 18”), Depth 24cm (approx 9.5”)

Bolex Beauty Camera Lamp
Bolex Beauty, movie camera lamp
This lamp is centred around the design and engineering qualities of Swiss camera specialist Paillard Bolex, a company founded in 1927.
My chosen model is the Bolex L8, launched in 1939 at the commencement of World War 2 and enabling the film enthusiast to have a ‘pocket’ movie camera. Powered through a clockwork mechanism, the Bolex L8 became particularly popular in the 1940s & 50s with the post war boom in film and photography.
During this time the name Bolex became synonymous with the quality required for 16mm film making for the cinema and news organisations like Pathe News, and it is an established professional name to this day.
The Bolex Beauty movie camera lamp itself has been selected to reflect a distinctive continental feel, a nod to the camera’s European heritage and its mid-century popularity.
